    Just in case anyone else has this problem:

    Edius 4.6 causes After Effects CS3 to crash. Sometimes. There have also been reports of Premiere crashing, and on my system, Vegas 8 pro crashes as well.

    There’s no resolution at the moment, except to uninstall Edius.

    After messing with this for hours, I think I assumed incorrectly that it’s an Adobe error. A few other programs are crashing in a very similar manner (especially vegas 8, which gives a handy error message that seems to lead to user32.dll being the culprit.)

    Thanks for your help anyway. Looks like I’m in for an all-nighter of windows troubleshooting.

    Well now I feel dumb typing up an entire essay describing my problem and it being that simple of a fix. Thanks!

    It still takes unreasonably long to import mpeg2’s initially… any thoughts on that?
