Yes, not quite, but I appreciate the response.
I would not know the IN point on the source, only the spot between my in and out on the timeline where the CTI is sitting and a corresponding point on the source where the CTI is sitting.
IE: Just like you are doing a Replace Clip match frame, ie: the frame matches on the timeline and source CTI. But in this case I just want a plain old overwrite like happens with what you suggested.
So I want to do a Replace Clip – match frame type edit, but using IN and OUT points on the timeline instead of replacing a clip.
It must be easy… like say you have 1 mins of a guy talking no edits, and he says ‘so the dude walks over to the dock and jumps in the water’ and you just want to lay in a clip of a guy doing that on a higher track with an overwrite edit, you set the in/out on the timeline, put the CTI where he says ‘jump’ and then on the source put the CTI where the guy jumps…
You should push a button and in it goes… figuring out the in/out points on the source based on the match frame. Just like replacing a clip match frame would do.
