    Hi Ron,
Actually the advanced search has other problems. It doesn’t allow searches by keyword for example. I know you guys might already know this but I thought I would post in case it wasn’t known.
    Thanks,
    Gary

    Hi Ron,
Glad to see the upgrade has gone so well. I noticed the search engine has changed and the new advanced search only allows searchs back 3 months. How long do you think this will last? In the mean time I would expect to see more reduntant posts as people rehash topics posted outside that time period.
    Thanks in advance and congrats,
    Gary

    Hello Scot and Renee,
Are you working with Floating Point bit depth sequences or using the float render to improve 10/8 bit quicktimes? Scot you said your 16 bit renders were much faster than 32 bit float? Do you mind sharing how fast each renders was and the specs on your hardware including your graphics card? It would be great to compare user experiences on different cards with float footage.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Bob,
I am also interested in this card but these problems are making me nervous. Do you have any info on CPU utilization? I know that on the PC side RAID cards have wildly varying CPU utilizations?
    Thanks in advance,
    Gary

  • Hi Michael,
I am planning to get the same motherboard although I just heard something interesting about IWill Motherboards. Unless I something else happens to get me excited about another board I am planning to stick with the S2895. I like the guys at Tyan and they answer the phone which has it’s advantages when you are in a pinch.

That board has great features including the onboard SCSI option with the S2895UA2NRF MB. If I remember correctly you didn’t get that board did you? I was hoping you might be able to report on the perfomance of the onboard SCSI RAID. Did you try the onboard SATA RAID? I am pretty excited about this new system. Can’t wait to see that the dual core 275 chips will do.
    Hope that helps,
    Gary

    Hi Michael,
Thanks for the report! I have been looking at the K8WE MB and it good to know you have had success with it. From your post it seems as though you are not having any negative issues. Have you been able to get the card to work in either slot with or without any other PCI-X cards installed? Are you still using the Opteron 246 processors? Thanks in advance for your info.

    Hi Amr,
Based on prior reponses from the Decklink team I don’t believe the MB you are referencing would with a Decklink card. Like most server motherboard the board you are referencing only has support for the 8 MB ATI onboard video and lacks an AGP or PCIe slot. The Decklink team has said before that PCIe or AGP graphics hard is a requirement for having HD graphics.

There are some Quad Processor boards with PCIe boards in the pipeline including one that I have heard about that has support for up to 8 processors! I would have to imagine that you would be on the bleeding edge with this system though given the extremely high cost of quad motherboards and very expensive Opteron 8XX processors required to run them.

It is also worth noting that the Windows Server 2003 operating system that would be required to support more than 2 processors is not currently supported with the Deckink. I do get teary eyed when I think about how 8 way dual core Opteron 875 system would perform with Combustion or After Effects so I am hoping these issues with be worked through.
    Hope that helps,
    Gary

  • Thanks Michael and Matt, that is great news!!! Dual Opteron here I come!

  • Hi Matt,
Thanks for the answer Matt. I would be great if you guys had an x16 card also. With the proliferation of SLI motherboards there are going to be many with two x16 slots and it would be great to use the Multibridge with them.
    Thanks again!
    Gary

  • Sorry I left Multibridge Studio off the end.
