  • Hi Daniel,
Sorry for calling you Don. I sure it happens all the time. It must be hard on you being the good looking brother with a name so much like your brothers.

  • Hi Don,
I was wondering if you had any info on the RGB output you list on the bosfcpug site. Is this an option for output in addition to the standard YUV?
    Thanks in advance,
    Gary

    Hi Guys,
This camera does look great. The only thing that is missing to make it look almost perfect is progressive but with the other features I have to say it still looks like awesome.
Don, in your summary you mentioned RGB output. Is this like any other pro camera where you would select RGB output from the internal menu? This sounds like the cheapest way to get 4:4:4 high def captures is that is true.
    Thanks,
    Gary

The one feature the LH has is the HD analog input. For me that is winner because the HD converter I was looking at cost almost as much as this card.

    Hi Wayne,
The acceleration has to do with hardware resizing. Both HDV and DVCProHD reduce the resoluton of the captured footage when capturing it from the camera head. Of course when you are looking at the footage on your HD monitor it has to be scaled back up to it full resolution. A capture card can do this one using its onboard hardware (Kona)does or it can delegate it to your CPU(some other cards).

Because the Kona uses its onboard hardware for these scaling tasks there should be more cpu throughput left over for realtime effects. This should be especially true if you were working with multiple streams of HDV or DVCProHD, or a least that is the rationale.
    Hope that helps,
    Gary

Here is an indirect one involving the Decklink Cards.

Very cool product at a great price, and best of all it works with current Macs. That analog I/O is exactly what was missing to simplify my setup.

    Hi Bob,
I think there are a few drives available that have SATA II interfaces including the Hitachi 7K500. I have seen a few reviews but from what I remember none of the reviewing drives were much faster than regular SATA drives. Of course the other advantages of SATA II might apply.
    Hope that helps,

    Thanks Scot and Warp,
Warp do you mind sharing your system specs and the performance you got using 16 and 32 bit float? Are you getting real time on 16 bit float?
    Thanks in advance!
    Gary
