[Brett Sherman] ” The FCP X users here are pretty open-minded about Premiere. I wish the converse were also true. :(“

I routinely switch back and forth between both, so it is.

I will be there, Sunday through Wednesday.

  • [David Lawrence] “Once CineForm fixes the output bugs with Adobe applications, I may switch to CineFrom as my primary intermediate codec. It’s really great.”

Are you on the Mac platform? I have heard that Cineform wasn’t very stable on Mac in the past.

    [Eric Santiago]
The internal 500GB drive was avg. 900 MBs so getting half debayer in real time and decent at Full in REDCine.”

On my MacBook Pro Retina (2013 spec’d out fully) I can get nearly real time with full debayer @ 4K (11 minute transcode time to ProRes HQ for 7 minute clip) in RedCine-X…so it doesn’t sound that much better.

The difference between USB3 on MacPro and MacBook Pro is real and that’s certainly not “just sayin’ “”

Then maybe you should stand by your words and not use that.

[Craig Seeman] “Basically it could happen unless one is aware of the limitation, hence, my reason for starting this thread.”

So you’re not “just sayin'” then?

  • [Michael Phillips] ” Perhaps, but it was for my kid to play off his thumbdrive at school. Wanted to make it as playable as I could. And for dialog only… eh.”

My experience with 44.1Khz exports from video makes the audio appear out of sync. I have plenty of instances where a client complains that the audio is out of sync and the only change I make is to render it out at 48Khz and they say that fixed it.

[Mark Suszko] “The risk there is that you could lose the business, and even perhaps your home and personal funds, if you get sued. This is not a sane business model.”

Outside of Coldplay being used Tony Romo’s wedding video, who else has gotten sued?

    [Craig Seeman] “Just saying…”

So you don’t really mean that?

[Craig Seeman] “Interesting limitation. All USB3 ports on single PCIe lane on MacPro.
MBP has one port per line.”

The USB3 ports were probably intended to be used for any wired input accessories, external optical drives, and the occasional need for a 5,200k portable drive that you might need to hook up to pull data from.

Which is why there are only four.
