[Franz Bieberkopf] “(The people I worked with bought a 2011 MacPro and Red Rocket and that was the entire “upgrade”.)”

Frankly, a 2011 Mac Pro with dual 7870 Radeons running Mountain Lion/Mavericks would be the ideal upgrade for this kind of workflow, considering you’ll be able to utilize the entire power of the Rocket/Rocket-X card.

You wouldn’t get as much GPU RAM, but outside of that, I would think it would be very comparable if not a bit faster for straight transcoding vs. neuMac Pro.

[Walter Soyka] “ProRes remains proprietary, but the fact that it has now been licensed on “the other platform” is interesting — and hopefully promising for interchange.”

Love to see ProRes go the way of ALAC.

[Roland R. Kahlenberg] “You’re the only person I know that installs plugins only as and when they need to use it. I suppose that you then uninstall these plugins as soon as you are done with the project?”

I guess I am just trying to find the right effect and so I do some Google searches and look for effects that might possibly either save me time or allow me to generate an effect that I can’t do myself.

And, on top of that, the majority of the time the plugin description vs. its actual abilities are overblown.

You never uninstall software trials that you decide aren’t worth paying for?

[Walter Soyka] “If you’re going to make a request to support this workflow, why not request the ability to refresh plugins without quitting and reopening the app?”

That would be fine too. I am assuming that there might be a larger issue at stake by doing so.

Even FCPX has to be shut down and relaunched to show plugins. Not aware of any other NLE that doesn’t do the same.

[Jason Jenkins] “Check out the free title generator “Manifesto”. It has a full featured text editor built in. https://fxfactory.com/info/manifesto/

I am assuming he means the actual name of the projects, not visual titles.

[David Mathis] “Better support for projects done in versions 7 and prior. I really do not feel the need to purchase another product just to make X more useful. Apple, what were you thinking?”

That ship has sailed and I would bet money this will never happen from Apple. There is 7toX after all, what more are you looking for?

[John Cuevas] “Then check out the script, should do exactly what you need.”

John, I don’t think you understand the issue. These projects are, first, constantly changing. Thus having a script I have to manually set just adds to the time involved, doesn’t subtract from it.

Second, I still have to close the app and re-launch it myself. And I don’t always have it in the dock (I trend to constantly change what is in the dock because there’s nothing more annoying then accidentally opening apps while trying to launch others), so if I have forgotten to add AE back to the dock, it’s not as simple to open up.

[Tony Peck] “If find it difficult to make changes to the wording after the fact. If want to change a word in the middle it is difficult to get that specific word.”

Then you should submit a feature request to Apple.

[Tom Sefton] ” Render multiple frames simultaneously is enabled with 4GB per CPU.”

That’s really damn impressive. Interested to know how my nMBPr would hold up with it’s 2GB in tota.

[John Cuevas] “You have the “Cntl + Alt + Shift + P” which will open your most recent project.”

Still manually closing the app, relaunching, and pressing a keyboard combination when I could simply click a menu option and have it do that on its own.
