  • [Shannon Gold] “Anyone know if this camera outputs slow motion footage via hdmi. It’s not looking that way to me.”

How would it output slow motion? It would have to first capture the image up front in 60p, then conform it to your base frame-rate, then output it. Which would mean there’d be some significant lag, and would require a buffer in order to save the conformed raw footage.

The C100 Mark II only outputs straight up 60p, which only the Shogun can record out of the Atomos lineup.

[Jose Santos] “Flicker comp is off, Canon Log is on.”

[Jose Santos] “”Proper” exposures IE 70-ish% IRE on caucasian faces result in quite bright images.”

You don’t exposure for Rec.709 when you shoot in Clog because it will make everything too bright, as you have seen. You should be exposing faces at around 40IRE.

Is flicker compensation turned on and are you shooting in C-log?

  • [Bret Williams] “They made me take a sort of creative writing test”

Seems ballsy when you’re offering 16k (25k now adjusted).

[Aindreas Gallagher] “[Aindreas Gallagher] (it occured to me watching him slap the space bar) “are you basically the first person ever in history to slap down on the spacebar for a marker for timing? I think you are you know.”

One small keypress for man, one giant leap for all editor-kind.

    Agreed.

  • [John Davidson] “No it’s not a great job if you’re a freelancer who just edited a series for broadcast television with 20 years of experience. If you’re 23 and have a few roommates, you could do worse. By my estimation it pays about 30k more than most craigslist jobs.”

Call me cynical, but I bet they don’t go with someone who shows promise and needs experience, but instead with someone who has loads of experience and is desperate for anything.
