[Todd Terry] “Yeah, I see it does list some 46mm filters as “frequently bought together,” which is a good indication. I do wish they’d give me the real specs in the actual item description before I went and bought a bunch of filters. It’s probably a good enough indication that it is 46mm, I guess I could send them back if not right.”

You have to buy filters explicitly for the Xenmuse. Normal 46mm filter threads are not compatible. You can get them to stick somewhat, but they aren’t ideal, and you could damage the threads that are on the camera.

  • [Jon Shank] “I heard it was bad to shoot 30 and export in 24 so why is it okay to shoot 60 and export in 30?”

Because one is evenly divisible and one is not.

[Jon Shank] “Also how will 24 exported at 30 look specifically, I’m trying to get a fundamental understanding of the effects of doing this.”

Are you unable to do a test export on a 24p project and see for yourself?

  • [David Payne] “hank you Gary I love the xonar, exactly what I wanted! “

Glad that worked for you! And thanks for following up so that I can store that little nugget away for the next person who needs a solution too.

[Mario Aranguren] “so it seems that there is somewhere an specific metadata image.”

It could be a hidden file that is not being moved along with it. I’ve read that doing this for a QuickTime embeds it in the file itself, but it could also be (for some reason), it’s utilizing a hidden file instead (i.e. when you change the icon for an external drive).

[Andrew Kimery] “There’s inventory for plugin downloads? Probably just something for the business calendar.”

    Back to school, specifically.

[Mario Aranguren] “He is using windows.”

I don’t know if that is going to work with Windows, however, the fact that you have another Mac and it’s not working might mean something. Have you tried resetting the thumbnail on your other Mac?

[Mario Aranguren] “Does someone know how can I keep the thumbnail?”

First, what kind of machine is your client looking at the thumbnail on? Mac or Windows? Which OS version?

August 4, 2016 at 1:39 pm in reply to: Sequences with 1080p 60 fps and 4K 30 fps

[Finn Haverkamp] “When editing the sequence, I can right-click the 4K clip and “Set to Frame Size” or “Scale to Frame Size”, but I think that’s just visual for the preview.”

That’s how you scale it, and it is not just for viewing, it will reflect in your rendering as well. If you want it to happen automatically, then go to your Premiere preferences menu option under General will be a checkbox for “Default scale to frame size”. If you check that and then click “Ok”, then Premiere will automatically downscale your 4K to show the full clip in your 1080 sequence.

  • [David Payne] “Do you have a different sub £100 card that you would recommend?”

There are not a lot of options, certainly not at that price range. If you can find an ASUS XONAR card, I would look into that, but I cannot guarantee how well that will work. My experience with Windows and Premiere is always on the built-in sound device.

[Oliver Peters] “As evidenced by the fact that we are discussing a several years old tower proves the fact that future expansion has its value over planned obsolescence.”

I mean, really, if ASUS came out tomorrow and said that they had developed drivers for macOS that allowed it to work with their PCIe Thunderbolt expansion card, would you ever consider a 2013 Mac Pro?
