[Gary Pollard]I do not go to a Nikon forum to show Nikon users the error of their ways, or tell Nikon users they are amateurs.

Gary, you are stretching Rafael’s point into a direction that I don’t think he intended for it to go. Hopefully you are not doing it intentionally.

However, I do not feel compelled to trash EVERY positive or engaged comment on the software that appears here, or its users. And that is what people have been complaining about.

Every comment? Really? Hyperbole is also not going to win you any brownie points.

[Craig Seeman]It’s fact that it exists there in resources. It’s fact that it wasn’t implemented.

The only fact is that there is a string reference to it in the binary. No more, no less. It may have been nothing more than placeholder from a coder who thought it was a surefire thing to be implemented, only to never actually have tried at all.

To read any more into that is, in my opinion, extremely wishful thinking.

[Craig Seeman]Some parts look like they were abandoned such as “Classic” import. It sounds like Apple tried and failed which is why they’ve given an emphatic “no” to that.

It is entirely your opinion that this is the case.

[Gary Pollard]Interesting. So do you also go to all the other forums for software and equipment you don’t use and don’t like, and encourage people out of their misguidedness there?

Gary, don’t you find this a little uncalled for and even petty?

[Craig Seeman]People who want to learn about the program are being discouraged.

So? If someone comes on here and reads the posts and decides not to bother with FCPX why is that such a bad thing? Are you really suggesting that discouraging someone from learning FCPX is going to somehow harm their future well-being? Seriously? What if they come on here and decide to put that $299 towards a copy of AVID or Premiere instead? Are they not just as viable a solution?

See, the problem with so much of this Apple evangelism is the sometimes not-so-subtle message that FCPX WILL BE 100% the absolute new standard in video editing within 2-3 years. I find that idea absolutely ludicrous, so please stop with that basic assumption that fills all these posts.

There’s a lot of name calling going on.

Please provide an example of this instead of merely asserting it.

[Bill Davis]It is PRECISELY this kind of personal attack that is accelerating the fractious nature of this board.

I don’t see that acceleration, and, frankly, I don’t find Weiss’ use of the word “hypocrite” to be all that terrible. Everyone is to some extent, and I think your posting bares that out somewhat.

This board reminds us in headers that it’s material is viewed globally, Google indexed, and very, very public.

Bill, to be honest, I’m more worried about that sort of thing with your reputation more than David’s. Especially for posts of this nature.

Mr. Weiss disagrees with my opinions, so I must be a “control freak” and a “hypocrite.”

You are misrepresenting his point here. Ironic for a post that is whining about the same. (and, yes, I consider you whining at this point).

If I’m to be called out in public as a liar, I feel I have the right to have some evidence presented. My writing is all here to be searched.

You are over-emphasizing the “lie” part. A lot of people just don’t have the clarity to realize they are being like that. And I think your own writing here damns you more than helps.

Frankly, all the projects I’m currently working on at this very moment would require so many workarounds that working in FCPX would be slower than in Premiere in every single aspect.

  • Great! Will that be part of the update in December 2012?

You can always play with iMovie on the iPad to get a taste. Why aren’t more people doing that if it’s so killer?

Seriously, it’s like the “White Night” syndrome, but with a piece of broken software.

    Sheesh.
