[Dave Gage] “How does an up-rez to 1080 or even 2k or 4k come out?”

I wouldn’t bother uprezzing for “future-proofing”…just a good quality master at the highest resolution that was supported by the original material.

YouTube still supports 4k if you upload to it with that resolution. The trick is to select “Original” as the frame size in the menu where you pick your resolution.

[Dave Gage] “I saw a PBS station yesterday in HD with Julia Child doing a black and white cooking show.”

Was it shot on 16 or 35mm thought? May not have been an uprez.

    [Joseph W. Bourke]
I’d like to hear how others experience works out with this, since it’s a work in progress, but it worked like a charm for me:

Thanks for the heads up on this, Joseph. Like you, I’ve been kind of frustrated with Dropbox, and the requests for raw footage upload over the ‘Net have grown more and more in the last few months. I will take a look into this.

February 21, 2013 at 11:49 pm in reply to: Mac Pro??

[Marcus Moore] “Of course, you can put in your choice of GPUs etc, which is why functionality-wise, an iMac and a PC tower aren’t exactly comparable products- that would be the MacPro”

Until the new iMac Pro comes out with same form-factor and a single 6-8 core Xeon and Quadro M GPU.

But hey, you can at least upgrade it to 64GB of RAM!

[Steve Connor] “Perhaps it will fit in the new MacPro though”

Probably not. For all we know, the new “Mac Pro” will be an iMac with a single Xeon CPU, a Quadro M GPU, and the ability to install 64GB of RAM for a hefty premium.

An actual desktop just seems out of place for the Apple of 2013.

[Dennis Radeke] “Is anyone using it? Like really using it – not connect it, fiddle with it and move on. If so, what are your opinions?”

Keep in mind that the developer is Pixel Film Studios, of alleged “rip off other plugins” infamy.

[Craig Seeman] “Are you using the music in the Primary?”

I think so? The music was the first thing I placed in the timeline, given the advice from Michael Garber. Edit’s been done for a while, so I can’t remember exactly (and my brain is addled by the Premiere/AE motion-graphic heavy kickstarter campaign video I just completed).

[Rafael Amador] “I think this is a job for FCPX; when the editing has been done before to reach the NLE.”

Yep. It was a project that I could hedge my bets on. If FCPX blew up in my face, I could see myself starting from scratch in Premiere.

Thankfully, it didn’t come to that.

February 13, 2013 at 1:31 pm in reply to: Premiere Pro – I could be convinced!

[Bernhard Grininger] “Making 32bit float the default and adding a tiny checkbox labeled Preview Quality which means ‘8bit only’ somewhere in the GUI near sequence viewer”

    Very confusing.

February 13, 2013 at 1:19 pm in reply to: FCPX has gone MISSING!

So yeah, it was simply a hidden purchase. On top of that, FCPX was now mysteriously back on the iMac.

I guess I’m just losing my mind.
