Your timewine sample edit definitely has a cell phone look in many shots (especially the shakiness and the quality of your voice in the audio), and your entire energy drink spec commercial has noise consistent with what cellphone noise looks like. The whole “shot at f/11” explanation seems to be to explain why there’s no shallow DoF, which there wouldn’t be from a sensor that small.

It doesn’t matter that it’s similar. Pick your lens on set to what you think looks good and don’t worry about what some movie did decades ago.

You don’t even have a film to export it. Shoot your film first, get accepted into a film festival, then ask this question.

You don’t even have the fundamentals down yet, so you’re getting way too ahead of yourself.

This literally does not matter at all at this point. You haven’t even filmed your short. Film it, get it accepted into a festival, and repost the question then when it is time to make a deliverable. There’s no reason to know any of this at this point.

He typically posts under the username “ironypony” on a lot of other forums since 2013. He has been recently been asking basically the same questions and having the same responses on another forum recently as well (I suspect he’s banned at the others). Given that he has been at these detailed questions for five years, it’s curious that his YouTube channel is mostly filled with copyright infringing clips of other movies, with two original clips that seem to be sourced from the same project.
