[Craig Seeman] ” I can’t see picking my arm up for hours at a time.”

If the touch screen interface really takes off, it will be real easy to spot editors in crowd. They’ll be the ones with arms like Popeye. “Oh man, I did a 12 hour session today and my forearms are burning”.

[John Mark] “I am hopeless as doing graphics using after effects”

You will forever be “hopeless” in creating motion graphics if you don’t put any effort into learning how to do it yourself. Either pay someone to create the graphics or do it yourself.

You’ve sorted it out yourself. MC doesn’t support pre-multipled alpha channels.

It sounds like the legacy import feature only works if you uninstall the AMA plug-in. Easy peasy, just uninstall and reinstall the AMA plug depending if you want to work via AMA or import the media. That’s jacked up IMO.

I’ve seen a few staging companies migrating over to GV T2 units to replace aging Beta decks. 1 Record channel and 2 playback channels in one box. It does file based imports. I’m not sure of the range of file types it handles. I know it will ingest an MP4 or h.264 quicktimes. Upconverts and downconverts on the fly. The output is SDI or HD-SDI. It’s an all around solid box.

If you can arrange a demo it’s worth your time to give it a look.

[John Kaley] “their stock jumped up 20% on Tuesday.”
I think Craig just threw up in his mouth a little bit. Hopefully the share price will plumment so he can feel good again.

I think you’re making a wise choice. It’s difficult to find quality engineers.

NEP is the top producer of broadcast engineers in the U.S. They have an apprentice program if you’re interested.

Fair warning. Working on a OB truck in a live sports environment is about as stressful as it gets. A lot of engineers burn out because of the intensity of the job. If you can handle working on a OB truck you can handle just about anything.

[Danny Finch] “Has it never quite caught on in the profession?”

Never had a chance. It’s not cross platform and AE had long secured it’s dominance as the tool of choice for motion graphics long before motion arrived on the market.

    [Walter Soyka] “Wow.”

That pretty much sums it up. BMD seems to have an endless supply of cash.
