Thanx Jeremy. I feel I might need to reformat the RAID this weekend when I have some project downtime. Bottom line is this RAID will never let me add, change or delete folders at the root level. We are stuck with the six folders for other projects we have now. We can add or change at any sublevel below these root folders. The Get Info always says we can only read and not write, but if I go to a folder and access subfolders, it works correctly. I am guessing the file structure is corrupt at the top level.

Any help is appreciated in avoiding a reformat session.

I tried their COW forum and it has no activity. Doesn’t help me now to maybe get answer next week. No replies. Can’t do anything about journalling at this point of time. Called the companies and they never answer or call back. It’s been noted by others that the support is next to non existent. I believe it’s a Mac OSx thing with permissions. Always says I ca read only no matter what changes I make as administrator. I just updated to Leopard and still the same problem. argh

    Hi Brad,
I also ran Disk Warrior earlier and it did not help. 🙁 I appreciate your help, too. Someone set this up before I came to work here and they have Journalling and it should be off. I think I may have to bite the bullet, back up 3.5 TB and reformat as well as upgrade to Leopard while I am at it.

tried that with no luck. I am googling a lot and a lot of people have had this problem. I tried all their suggestions and still no luck. 🙁 at least the RAID works and we can work on current projects. what a PITA tho. I have no down time to install Leopard/FCS2 clean and rebuild the RAID.

“tried checking the “disable permissions for this volume” box?”

I tried the demo before I posted here and it just said Clip: and never showed the name of the clip?? That is why I said I may need to dig in deeper. I expected it to automatically insert the name of the clip.

    Hi Jeremy,
I saw TCR PLus, but could not see the filenames added? Maybe I need to dig in more on it? Label field is too much work for 100’s of clips in a full length movie. Even with segments as we work. Looking for an automatic load of source clip for conforming in Scratch. When a clip does not match, the ref movie can show me the clip I should find and it;s timecode without reading through the edl list.

Someone mentioned to me an app by a company called Katy something? I can’t seem to find it now with a google search. It allows metadata burn ins, I think.

June 5, 2008 at 5:16 pm in reply to: HVX P2 project needs work

    Hi Jeremy,
We just recovered some files from an LTO tape that appears to have the final project file (.fcp) and relinked the original source media. But it still has to be re colored and edited on the older QT 7.2 system because of what I have described. At least I can now finish what needs to be done.

But I still do not understand why it has to be. I am guessing because they imported all the HVX footage on that older QT version and the newer versions of QT are not backward compatible. In other words, I could reimport “all” the original files again, but that is too time consuming.

    Best regards,

I have LTO tapes from the original project that were then put on G Raids for re edit/cc. None of the clips work. I get the messaged unrecognized blah blah. The guys that worked here on it befor said they stayed in QT 7.2 to work only on this P2 project because there were issues with P2 and QT. I believe it was an HVX 200 shoot.

The files have no extension (mov) in the the filenames. Yet they open still on the old QT 7.2 computer. I did open some on that computer and resaved with QT (7.2) and those work on all of our updated FCS stations. But I can’t resave all the clips for original sources for a 90 minute movie. 🙁

BTW, I posted earlier on Tyler’s computer.
