Also I would like to ask one more question please. Assuming I opened my CS5.5 with no sequence and then import the ProRes 720p 422 into the project as suggested, and then I want to add some other lesser quality clips, like MPEG2 or similar, and with wanting to make my completed DVD in 16:9, do I simply crop the differing images in the program window to accomodate the different formats to obtain the 16:9 output? Wonderful and many thanks. One more question, should I create the project with the two options I have, either HDV or DV? Or will what you suggested allow HD within the DVD setting. As you can probably tell I’m just a bit new at starting projects but I have what I think is a killer system and just want the project to be right from the git-go. I’m producing a documentary of my shoot down and rescue from Laos while piloting a USMC Phantom. I’ve recovered quite a bit of 8mm and 16mm actual combat footage and have had it transferred and hope I made the right decision to have it sent to me on a disk in the ProRes 720p 422 HD format I mentioned. I bought my XHA-1 a year ago and my first time to use it was on horseback. I transported it on horses almost every day for two months and haven’t had any problems at all. The only thing I don’t like is the background noise on audio. There is probably something I’m doing wrong but the noise seems to always be there. It also works nicely with the Adobe CS3 I use. I have read this thread with great interest. I have been using Sony tapes and only have one instance of dropout over the use of about 7 tapes. I also purchased a Sony GV-HD700 as the workhorse to playback tapes. The price was about $1100. It has thus far performed flawlessly in conjunction with my Adobe CS3 software. I hope this is not a mistake as it seemed much cheaper than another camera. I am using the Canon XHA-1 as my camera for acquiring source footage.

Okay, problem solved. I just bought a Sony GV-D800 video Walkman. This is a Digital8 VCR. It is backwards compatible and I started transferring Hi8 tapes yesterday. I paid $566 for it new and I am truly impressed with this unit and it even has TBC for stability of Hi8 playback. The only reason I needed this is that I’m producing some documetaries and wanted the best quality available for capture. If you are just doing hobby work a Digital8 camcorder should suffice and many models are available on E-bay. I’m using the upgraded Adobe CS3 for capture and the process has been flawless with the GV-D800.

Matte, I bit the bullet and got on E-bay and ordered a Sony D-8, hope I don’t get screwed-lol-Appreciate your input and think this will be an excellent solution, even though I’m disappointed Canon didn’t simply put a S-vhs input in when they have every darn thing else-all the best-Gary

Never mind about the uninstall for 2.0. I just tried it, very aprehensively I might add, and removed it and CS3 working fine so got though that one. Would really like to know best way to completely remove previous project though-again-TIA-Gary
