No initial help for the tracking question (sorry), but If you’re going to have them re-shoot anyway, have them do a few with the talent holding nothing instead if the piece of glass. It might be easier to re-create the entire thing in AE and use the tracking data of her hand rather than trying to track and composite on the glass.
Actually, a thought for the tracking – can you just use the very edges of the glass where there’s less reflections? It looks like they’re pretty solid…

Roland,
Thanks for your reply (and sorry for the delay in thanks).
I appreciate you taking the time to write this out. It’s the strategy I usually use for key framing/roto, and in every application other than Mocha, it works 100% of the time. I do have trouble with the way Mocha does keyframe interpolation in the Adjust Track module though, and I’m still having a difficult time getting my head wrapped around it.
I just posted a question about this in a different thread – it’s not online quite yet since I’m a new user, but if you happen to have a spare few moments, I’d appreciate it if you have a look. If not, I still appreciate your thoughts and advice. Thanks again

Thanks to both of you. Neither quite solved a problem I’m having with a similar yet different shot, but it’s definitely closer. I think I just need to spend some more time on it. I really do need to delve deeper into using the Manual Track feature as well.

December 2, 2013 at 10:55 pm in reply to: Playhead moving more than one frame at a timeGot it sorted after some playing around. I was using sequence settings created by my imported clip (a screen record created by Quicktime Player) and for some reason, that was giving me issues. When I changed the settings back to a standard XDCam 1080p30, it works fine.
Weird, though. So, my problem is solved, but if anyone has any ideas as to why this would happen, I’d be interested in hearing about it.
Thanks again

Thanks guys. A combo of a few things helped – adding more height segments to my rails (created using three cylinders and a bend deformer, not sweep nurbs), making the transition angle less steep (solved the bouncing out problem), adding more polys to my sphere, and lowering the margin on the rails to 0.
Now though, when i drop my sphere into the rails to begin its journey, it rolls down the incline half way, and then stops as if it’s hit an invisible wall. Any thoughts?
Thanks again

I’m trying to use cloth for the first time, and this simply isn’t working for me. I’ve followed the steps listed here, as well as in another tutorial, for creating a basic flag, and it will not attach to my flagpole.
I’ve selected the points i want to attach, clicked Set, dragged my pole object into the Belt On field, and yet when i click play, my flag simply falls down. Both objects have been made editable. Also, toggling the Draw checkbox doesn’t turn on/off the selected belt points like it should.
I’m using version 12.0
