It’s probably not $1000 less, because a lot of these guys take out things like the battery, charger, lens hood, etc and charge you way too much for them. Try to buy the camera without the overpriced accessories and your order will be backordered until you die of old age. There is no free lunch.
But AFAIK you can get your camera repaired at any Panny servce center (you will pay for it), they just don’t honor any non-US warranties.

Actually I have been on the Internet now for about 12 years. Boards have become much more civilized. Back then, along with LOL and ROTFLMAO, the most common acronym was RTFM.
