AVCHD is a format for the recording of high definition video that is compressed in H.264 format and audio is recorded in AC3 (also known as Dolby Digital.) The Sanyo HD2000 shoots in 1080p60 using H.264 at 24Mbps and audio is recorded in 48k 32bit AAC. AAC was developed by the MPEG group, which have also been involved in the development of audio codec’s such as MP3 and AC3. The AAC codec builds upon state-of-the art signal processing technology from Dolby Laboratories and brings true variable bit rate (VBR) audio encoding to QuickTime. If you have a Vimeo account you can download it at 1080p60 48k 32b. The original question remains, the best way to edit it in FCP. I personally convert the footage to HDV 30p, But if you need 1080p60 in fcp the two choices are AIC or ProRes. Unfortunately fcp doesn’t do 32bit audio.
