Noah – Thanks! I’ve heard conflicting views on this (even from pros) but your advice will be followed (from now on).

I discovered today that USAPhotonation.com is offering the AG-DVX100B for $1749 -however- without paying an additional $1000 the camera would be useless – apparently they update the firmware to english language menus, etc. and throw in the usual accessories. Noah- thanks for clarifying about dealers and service centers only doing the firmware installation.
