I don’t think it’s a codec issue. I’ve tried creating Proxy files H264, but it didn’t make any difference. Again, the strange thing is that even after rendering it, it still plays back with stutters.

Using Better Performance nothing change

Hi everyone, has anyone experienced using multiple magnetic masks on the same clip in Final Cut Pro 11 and noticed that playback stutters? The strange thing is that even after rendering the clip, it still plays back with stutters. The only way to view it correctly is to export it.

Hi Jacqueline, Better Quality or Better Performance only affect the viewer and have no effect on the export. Weird… if you put the 4K clip in a 4K timeline and export at 1080 is better than if you put the 4k clip in a 1080 timeline and export in 1080.

FCPX does not support Braw and this is absurd. But even Blackmagic doesn’t develop the plug-in like it does for Premiere and Avid. Nobody seems to want to tell us the real reason. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I did the same test with both Imac Pro and Mac Book Pro M1 Max and I got the same result. I am using FCPX 10.6.2 the project is 1920×1080, the file in the timeline is ProRes 4K I export an mp4 or a ProRes in 1920×1080 and the image is as if it were not very detailed

When I export a FCPX project 1920×1080 that contain clips 4K, the file mp4 or ProRes is a little bit blurry and not well define. The same result if I send project rendering to Compressor. If I make the same thing with Motion 5 the quality is better and the image is more clear and sharp. Has anyone noticed this? I invite you to take a test.

It is a bug of this new update. Select the title and double-click the transition icon you want to apply. Or use the shortcut. 😉

You can try to reset Preference.

When you deinterlace a clip don’t change the “Field Dominance”

It doesn’t matter, the reference is the Timeline setting.

1) Select all the clips

2) Select Settings in roll out menu (number 1) (look the picture)

3) Check Deinterlace (number 2)

That’s all

FCPX make a very good job during deinterlace process. You can upconvert with Kona and deinterlace with FCPX. I suggest to make a test both ways.

Acquire in the original DV format 480i29.97, then select all DV clips in the browser, go to “Inspector” select “Settings” menu and check deinterlace function. Edit your clips in timeline, select all DV clips and select the better “Frame sampling” in “Rate Conform” menu in the “Inspector” 😉

Sometimes it happens to me. Close and reopen fcpx. 😉

If you don’t need too complex authoring, fcpx can generate a dvd with customizable background chapters and much more.

You should use ProRes every time you export a video. Anyway why you don’t use the stabilization tool inside fcpx? It works fine.

You have probably selected “Better Performance” in the viewer so fcpx shows you the image with less resolution to increase editing performance. Select “Better quality” in the viewer menu. However this does not affect the final export
