Digital Juice makes an SFX library that is pretty decent and has several of what could be considered “control room chatter” in there. It’s available on their site:

I use the drives by Lacie that are the silver ones designed by Porsche. They only have FW400, but are plenty fast for DV editing. (Which I may be incorrectly assuming is the mainstay on your laptop). You can get them cheapest directly from Lacie.
