I figured it out. I dragged every layer that has text effects or layer effects on brushes from the PSD file from within Photoshop (individually) onto a new document and merged layers while maintaining transparency. Then I dragged it back into my composite and deleted the original layer with effects.

    I hope this helps someone!

    Stephen,

This is what I have so far. Let me know.

I said transparent area but forgot that jpeg removes it and places white instead.

    Hi Stephen!

Does your new “Moving with Motion” deal with this at all?

I think what I need help with is what process or button do you press to send the selection to layer two while layer 1 has a cut out seeing the checkered background. I can mask to my hearts content but never moved things to other layers before. I’ve typically masked things for photography not videography. So must of what I’ve masked was for repairing problems or enhancing.

    Thanks!

    Hi Stephen!

I had a feeling you were going to post first. 🙂

I think cloning the background where the cut is located is the missing part for me. I guess clone after the cut? Also, I tried this yesterday but I might have done something wrong. I was creating a “Quick Mask” and while having it selected I made a copy of the 1st layer which put the selection on layer 2, but layer 1 was still intact with the selection I made still there and not cut out.

It’s funny because I saw a video tutorial somewhere like Ripple Training or something. I actually came to creative cow first and looked up all the videos you’ve done!! You didn’t cover this in your “Money Making Graphics and Effects for Final Cut Studio 2. :)-

I like your “Catholic Community Services” video you have on your website. Nicely done, and that’s the sort of thing I’m trying to do. I love how you put the bar/text graphic behind the church and the background. Did you create placeholders prior to adding the photos? Just curious if building it that way is less cpu intensive versus trying to build it with large jpegs.

    Thanks again Stephen!

Zak, good news! Before reinstalling the Motion Content I checked the location of the content and while it was fine, I found that I also had it copied to another location already. I don’t know why though, but it worked. It’s all there now!

    Thanks!

October 5, 2009 at 1:18 pm in reply to: Where is my “Text – 3D Move” Behavior?

    I’m missing the following:

    Text-3D Move
    Text-Basic
    Text-Fade
    Text-Glow
    Text-Miscellaneous
    Text-Move
    Text-Zoom

I’m running FCS2 and Motion is at 3.0.2. Any ideas? I deleted the pref file and have also uninstalled and reinstalled Motion with updating to 3.0.2.

I understand that Motion 4 has condensed these in the Text Sequence behavior.

    Thx,

    Frank

October 3, 2009 at 9:44 pm in reply to: Converting 29.97 footage to 23.97

Thanks Shane! I tried it in compressor and it worked, but only to find out that it increased the duration – making the video slower and audio pitch lower. Did I do it correctly? I’m testing this on a 30sec commercial, and while the 29.97 version was exactly 30secs the 23.98 version was several seconds longer. Sorry but I deleted it before writing this. 🙂

October 25, 2008 at 1:52 pm in reply to: Green Screen to Flash Video (Website)

    Jeremy & Rafael,

Thanks for the tips! I did exactly what you’re saying to do. Just curious, when I exported the QT file with the video codec set to “Animation” with million colors+ I still see the black bkgd in the QT Player. Is this right? Another question, for the Sequence settings should pixel aspect ratio be set to square since it’s for the web?

I guess for this all to work I need Adobe Flash Professional now?

    Thanks guys!
