525i is another description for Standard Def NTSC (720*486), since it uses 525 active video lines. If you want to give him files, either use 720*486 in 4:3 aspect ratio, or 720*486 in 16:9 AR, depending on his project aspect ratio. You could render the files into Prores codec, or “lossless” (Apple Animation at highest quality settings) if you want to include an Alpha channel.

The other option you could do is to let the ClipWrap software do the transcoding to ProRes 422 as well as the rewrapping. This way you end up with only one file instead of 2; it still will be larger than the original stream, though, but it is much easier to edit ProRes footage than MPEG2 streams.

This works for me, at least with 25p footage. Can you post a short clip somewhere to have a look at? Or get in touch with Techsupport, maybe they can help here looking at your Crash Logs…

422 vs HQ: I don´t see much difference here. Only thing I would avoid is acquiring 422 for complicated greenscreen work. Then I would go HQ or 4444. No need to go Uncompressed these days. All the codecs are 10 bit (at least when getting 10 bit source footage).

What OS version are you using? Which version of the XDCam tools? If the XDCam files are converted, can you import the converted files into Media 100? What framesize and framerate are your files in? This definitely should not happen.

Depends on the quality you want to get. You could go DVCProHD, which is 100Mbit/sec, or ProRes Proxy if you want to go lower. For broadcast quality I would go for ProRes 422, which should be possible with your 2 SATA drives.

Oh the joy of color management. Try to export the file from QuickTime player in a usable codec, e.g. DV, Prores or something else. Does it look better in Media 100?

Quicktime files captured in Media 100 do have an integrated Timecode track these days. You can display the TC e.g. in QuickTime player. If you want to convert them e.g. for client viewing, you could add a TC overlay in Compressor while converting to H.264

Have you tried exporting with the “Buses as separate Tracks” option?
