Where are you based? Also where in Europe are you talking? I’m in Amsterdam and I haven’t seen it around the traps.

Yeah – that’s my fear – I stick to the tools that are most like the ones I know – and all the young buffs get dextrous in X making me a dinosaur 🙂

Not boring – but tricky as many agencies (usually my direct clients) don’t have avid in-house. You’ve convinced me though – I’m finally going to do it.

That’s what’s happening here in Amsterdam too. I mostly work with agencies so I need to follow suit, but I want the tools to keep up with the post houses.

Thanks everyone! I have the solution.

The black magic card controller was set incorrectly to covert to 1080i on the way out.

I had only been looking at the FCP settings.

    Phew

At first it was as if I was seeing the picture through warped glass – though it was playing in real time. Then after playing around with the settings and settling on the original ones, I can’t get a good signal out. It Flicks every few frames. Sorry, i’m not great at explaining these things 😉

every few frames it will flick with a larger transparent image.

I hope you can decipher that code 😉

    {It plays fine with the HD-720p 10 bit setting but the screen res is wrong}

    Cheers

    Thanks Eli,

I’ve done this and using the easy set-up, FCP gives me the Blackmagic HDTV 720p 59.94 (1280×720)8-bit setting as the output setting. All is good in my timeline, I don’t need to render. I can’t get a decent signal out to the ref monitor though. I’ve downloaded new drivers for the decklink. I am beginning to think the problem is not in my settings.

Could the Hz be an issue?

    I appreciate your help.

    It’s a 24p framerate at 60hz

I am trying to see it on the monitor.

    Cheers!

Thanks Walter. I don’t get any of the DVC Pro settings in the video playback – only for easy set-up and then it’s looking for a DVC Pro out put – I’ll search the BMD website.

    Thanks for your help.
