Adobe’s extendscript editor is deprecated, very buggy and infuriatingly slow. So you can ignore it 🙂

Sounds like a job that can be done with scripting.

The most straightforward way would be if you prepare two Animation Presets for the top layer and the bottom layer, then the script can just create a comp for every footage, duplicate the layer, and apply the two animation presets.

That would be a lot easier than trying to add keyframes, effects and their settings via scripting.

As for the rest of the script, you used [i] in two places where it won’t work:

group[i].name = "P"+[i];

should be

group[i].name = "P"+i;

and

p[i].expression = "[0, effect('Pos-"[i]"')('Slider')];"

I’m guessing it should be (depending on what you named your Sliders):

p[i].expression = "[0, effect('Pos-"+i+"')('Slider')];"

Finally, compWidth and compHeight aren’t defined, but they might be global variables in some part of your code that you didn’t post.

You defined the function createGrid(), but you didn’t execute it.

Just add:

createGrid();

and it will run.

I haven’t checked the rest of the code to see if it would indeed run correctly.

To anticipate:

The one thing that wasn’t visible in the screengrab is that there was of course still a normal character offset text animator running untill the final keyframe.

Furthermore, I used two aescripts: Textexploder and Rift to quickly make single character layers from 1 word, and to quickly sequence all layers a few frames apart. Not necessary but just nice shortcuts to cut down on repetitive manual actions.
