2019 and yet, I was wondering exactly the same, so, I decided that I was going to create a macro that would:

Create a nested sequence from the clip selected,
Then change the resolution of the clip to its original (4k in this case)
Apply warp (IMPORTANT: NOT MAKING ANY SCALING TO IT, JUST STABILIZE)
And, finally, I would have to resize myself the nested in the original sequence to the point where no black borders visible.

That I imagined it was the best solution so it would no scale up the clip more than it needed and have a fast way to do it.
So I fixed one clip both ways to compare.
one by the method above and another one adjust the clip to the size os the sequence and nested after that,
apply the effect to the nested sequence

It turns out that as long as you adjust the size of the clip first, it makes no difference, even more, seems to make a better job calculating the minimum scaling needed so no black borders appear. At the of the day, the best way to do it is the easiest one.

make a couple of key shortcuts for “adjust to sequence size” and “nest” and apply warp manually with automatic scaling. No shortcut for favorite effects yet,…. I hope it helps somebody

  • Hi!
My solution was to apply de anti flickering filter (movement section inside de clip effects panel)with a value between 0.10 and 0.30.this wasenought to get the flickering out without makeing images blurry. Any way, some people pointed Auto shoulder as problem cause.

  • Thank a lot sir!

  • Thanks, Chris
That´s pretty much what i was guessing, my biggest concern was about if the progressive material will crash on an interlaced secuence,…

So far i get, you suggest the following

    1440×1080 frame size
apple pro res 442 upper codec
    ok
So when I convert mpeg material from go pros to pro-res I should change de pixel aspect from square
    to 1440×1080?
also had to change de frame size then?

I´ll use mpeg streamclip to do it, any better solutions?

You are helping me a lot so, please don´t stop now 😉

  • First of all, thanks for tris rapid answer!

Well, the most material is hdv Sony one, and the go pro material is going to look as security camera in final image so cuality in this case is not that important as time Saving issue.
For more data, I have a core 2 4g RAM imac so i really need your advice on final secuence setting to not waste time. I know that looks all problems but i’ll trully apreciate any advice.
    Thanks

From my point of view imac is not the choice. I bought one couple of years ago, and it worked fine until HD format get massive and my workflows got richer and complex, now, i find myself thinking on upgrade, but I simply can’t! Get a mac pro. Not doubt. Is faster. More reliable, and upgradable.

About the suite, it really depends on the jobs you do. Final cut studio 3 and CS5 has everything i need in the near future.

Sorry for my poor english. I’m basque. ;p

  • Hi, i recently got a wd 1tb and once i created a Mac os patition without non bootable part for any system (osx ir Windows ) ir Works fine, fast and quiet! For 100 bucks is good for me. Not complain about lacie, its also good.
For both of them, you should remenber not to fill it over the 80% and tht’s all.
    Hope this Will help.
