Thank you, Jeff; I really appreciate the support.

As for the “Use the Modify -> Conform to Sequence…” process, is that in FCP or Cinema Tools?

I think I know why I’m thinking the color temp/darkness has changed: because when I shoot for slow mo, I crank the shutter speed to about 250 or a little more which darkens the visuals.

I was taught in school to shoot 1080p with a shutter speed of about 80 to 120 or a little more.

Should I just shoot 1080p with the same shutter speed as the 720p? Because if that’s not the case, I know I’m going to be mixing and matching lighting between the 1080p takes the 720p takes.

I’m going to download Cinema Tools ASAP, and Twixtor as well – unless they do the same thing – I should be on my way to success..

Thank you very much and bless you.

Ok! that makes complete, total sense now…

When you say “re-conform your footage to 1/30th or 1/24th,” do you mean do that within the camera or FCP (like the sequence settings)?

Also, just to get your opinion: what do consider better, 30 fps or 24fps when i re-conform the footage?

I’m assuming Cinama Tools is a plug-in like Twixtor, that can do a “blend,” like you say.

Thank you very much for your time, it was very helpful.

  • Thank you very much.

You have been a great help.

I think my camera needs a memory recording unit, even though it has the slot for a memory stick pro duo on the side of it -___________-

I need to do some research!

I realized that when I was shooting, I had the VCR mode in/out rec set to Auto instead of HDV…

So I’m guessing it was switching back and forth on it’s way out of the camera…

    Thanks, for all your help,

Now, I’m getting a “Formatting was not successful. Not enough space on output media” in DVD studio pro…

I should be good once I get over this.

The setting is set to progressive>24p, so I doubt that it is interlaced footage.

I don’t understand progressive vs interlaced shooting because I see some of the same numbers in both options

Yes, when I logged all the footage into FCP I got an automatic window: change sequence settings to match clip settings?

    I clicked yes.

When I checked Video/Audio setting everything was set: HDV; HDV 1080i; Sony HDV 1080i

I also get glitches in the footage I export – the video tweaks and I get jumbled pixelation.

    Thank you for your help

Any additional help is very welcome

Up to my knowledge, I put all the settings under HDV or HD1080i..

I figured that I should leave the down-convert off too because it would down convert it to DV –

On my Final Cut Pro it looked blurry when I was previewing it, but then when I hit capture now in the log window, it looked fine.

    I may need glasses.

  • Thank you; the information was very helpful…

How reliable do you find those memory cards?

I found someone that said the cons outweighed the pros in opposition to using tape.

Also, I’ve been seeing that people buy HD cards of some sort that allow your system to fully process captured HD footage uncompressed.. What’s the deal with that?

    Thanks again,

  • We filmed with a Sony CyberShot 1080 camera – I know it’s not much for high quality, but it’s all we had.

My friend had to convert the files from the camera to Windows Media Player compatible clips, then I had to convert them over to my mac book pro using Smart Converter. From there, I just dragged the clips onto Final Cut.

I’m guessing all the transferring/converting of files brought the quality down a bit?

What i’m doing is editing using H.264, copying my entire sequence, making a new sequence, the pasting into the new sequence with the settings set to prores (LT) (I’m not entirely certain what LT means at the end of that, and i’ve seen more version of Pro Res in the settings).

Is this what you mean by trying to to save the quality?

Because you said H.264 is a delivery codec, so I’m assuming that’s when the footage is on it’s way out..?

When I dragged the files into my sequence I got a box saying something like “would you like to change your sequence settings to the right settings for your video”?

Thank you for all your help
