First the PD150 records digital audio which has to peak at -20db. or -12 at best and with a marching band hitting it at -10 is way overdriving that channel dude.

second if you are feeding the signal from a mixer then it has to be a mic signal, the PD doesn’t have a true line level in it’s a mic input with a pad.

Also, are you sure that you have manual control of the audio, and it’s not on AGC?

Two last comments; try a different mic see if it sounds better
try the -10db switch on the camera it’s on the operator side upper area wher the audio controls are, oh yeh, are you in a mic level input?

    good luck

August 8, 2006 at 3:06 pm in reply to: Panasonic giving Varicams away!!!

Well, I was told that Panasonic will come out with a VariCam that will work with P2 cards in the next year. However, I am in the process of buying a Vari and still feel that it will pay for itself in under a year and be usefull and productive for the next 3-5years.
And in response to the HDX900, I’m still told by two different camera techs that you still get better overall contriol over the look with the VariCam, that you won’t get with the 900. Also, it’s a status deal, if you show up with a VariCam, especially for a broadcast situation, your client will know that you mean business.

Does anyone agree or disagree? I’m still researching.
Also, does anyone know if the 900 still will also shoot SD or is it only HD?

    Dude,

Go to mandy.com you can search camera rental or camera men, etc, in Montana, Northeast, or the whole country. I saw some owners of the Varicam in Washinton state.

    good-luck
