Sorry, I’ve found an effect “Wave Warp” that seem to do the job!

I believe the Shape Layer did the trick.
There I could transform the path.
And it’s also possible to keyframe the Stroke Width.
That way I should be fine:

About animation: Yes, it would be nice to be able to have an animated stroke. Taper in and out.
But not a cardinal request.
I did try to scale and animate 4 jpg’s in Premiere, but that looked awful.

About Illustrator: My skill there is very limited there to say the least.

Could be that I could make a tiff in Photoshop, but then again I have hoped AE could do the deed.

Anyway, big thanks for your suggestions! 🙂
