How to make huge stroked path?
I’m trying to make a stroked path that will show a curve for the global temperature from million years ago to present time.
Actually I’m trying to stitch 4 curves together that each have a scale of millions, thousands, hundreds and tens of years.
I would like to make assemble into one curve that I can zoom in and out of.
Would that be possible?
What about the stroke, how do I make the thickness of the stroke uniform in each end of the curve.
All good ideas are highly appreciated!TIA

It seems you could create this curved stroke/timeline in illustrator, save it as an AI file, bring it into AE, turn on continuous rasterization and zoom and pan however you wanted.

A Shape Layer should make this easy. Simply draw your path with the Pen Tool. Switch off the Fill property and adjust Stroke Width and its other properties to suit your needs. Shape Layers are Continuously Rasterized – no issues with pixelation when you zoom into it.

About animation: Yes, it would be nice to be able to have an animated stroke. Taper in and out.
But not a cardinal request.
I did try to scale and animate 4 jpg’s in Premiere, but that looked awful.About Illustrator: My skill there is very limited there to say the least.
Could be that I could make a tiff in Photoshop, but then again I have hoped AE could do the deed.

No tapering with a Stroked Shape Layer. Stroke width also affects the entire path. To have variable sized strokes, create separate Shape Paths and set Stroke width accordingly.

I believe the Shape Layer did the trick.
There I could transform the path.
And it’s also possible to keyframe the Stroke Width.
