Would you guys recommend the Intuos 6 X 8 for masking/rotoscoping?
I like the price of that one, its middle of the road, but I hope it does the trick for what I need it to do.

I would set the opacity of the lightning to 0 for the first keyframe. Then I would set another keyframe right “before” you want the lighting to apear with the opacity still set to zero. On the next “frame” I would have another keyframe and set the opacity to what you desire for the look of the lightning. That should work.

Did you try right clicking on the emitter and clicking “make elipse” or “make circle”?

  • I would be glad to test you plug-ins. Please send me a reply, I run a 2.8GHZ dual core with 4 gigs of ram.

You can do alot of stuff in Vegas that can be done in After Effects, it just matters how much knowledge you have of the NLE. Vegas is a very nice program. In the end though, After Effects will be able to do alot more but your skill level on how to achieve it is another thing.

Do a web search for “debug mode” “Wax 2.0”, it is a FREE NLE but I am not sure what it can and can’t do.

    You can go here https://www.wondertouch.com/tutorials/wind_01/Layer_Offset_wind.htm
To get a good idea of what Elvis is talking about with the layer offset. There are alot of step by step tutorials out there to get you more familiar with PI. Go here https://www.wondertouch.com/tutorials.asp to see some of them. The tutorials will help out alot.

You do have to keyframe this kinda thing, I would assume. If you have after effects, you can import the motion tracking info into PI so you can pin the emitter on the target. If you have anymore questions I would read the tutorial section on this web site and others. They will help out alot.
