You might also consider sending your camera in to Macie. They will do a setup for you and give you a card full of settings.

Check out the WD Media Player. AFAIK, the greatest thing ever invented. It a tiny unit that will playback 1080p HD, has HDMI out. Your HD files can be stored on cheap Flash drives and it actually works flawlessly. I give one to all my clients, so I can just go to their office, playback the project for them on their big screen in full HD. Oh, it’s only $100.

If Apple discontinues FCP, it would be one of The most stupid things they have ever done. Like we all need another smaller Nano player.

Open a brand-new timeline and add your footage, it should ask you again. If not, you can go up to the menu SEQ-SETTINGS and set it to match your incoming footage. You can also change the audio there too.

If you drop a clip into a new timeline, FCP will ask you if you want to match the settings to the incoming clip. Just say yes. Are your audio tracks on the clips 48K? If the audio is at 44K and not 48K, just go up under settings and change the time line to match.

Do you guys know that Smoothcam goes back to the entire digitized clip and not just the section in your timeline. The way to make it faster is to self-export just the clip in the timeline. Then re-import it and apply Smoothcam. Mucho faster.
