If there is noise, you might consider sending your camera to a good tech to have it adjusted, IF there is an issue. Especially if you are shooting a feature. Well worth the money to have your camera looking the best.

It might be easier and cheaper for this non-broadcast event to just use some RG59 coaxial cable (The type used for cable TV) and just put two BNC-to-F Connectors on it. They come in 100′ rolls everywhere.

You can set the camera’s down conversion to either letterbox or 4:3 (there’s a menu setting for that). As the projector is only 4:3 native, I would set the camera to send 4:3 to it.

As Jeremy mentioned above, how are you finishing? It sounds like you are shooting and editing for broadcast and not a theatrical 24fps ‘film-out’. Correct?If you’re just finishing for TV, then I would edit on a DVCProHD 720/60 preset (actually 59.94) and let the camera do the 24 frame 3:2 conversion. That’s all I do, I just edit for broadcast and DVD. It’s simple. The HDX900 does all the work for you as it records. You just shoot 24fps with Half shutter and the camera adds the 3:2 pulldown as it records. Then, digitize into FCP using the DVCProHD 720/60 preset and you’re all set.

Not much you can do to fix excess 24fps blur in post. You have to shoot it correctly to start.Maybe one of the edit guru’s can chime in as to any post tricks.

I gotten that gray border on some graphic files until I render the effect. Then it goes away.

I have never seen that message appear. Hmmmm, that’s a new one to me. My only suggestion is to try some different audio settings as a test. Maybe it only appears at certain encoded settings?

You might want to get a eSATA Express34 card and a portable eSATA RAID. I use this setup my MacBook Pro on location and it works great.

The Cache-A looks nice, but is there anything cheaper than $6K? I’m a small shoot/editor that just wants to archive small amounts.
