Just for the record, the reason I don’t want to use a compressor is because the radio station where this will be broadcast is already SUPER compressed by the time the audio hits the air, so it will in effect be compressed twice if I go that route.

I will give the Wave Hammer a try, thank you very much!

Thanks for your reply. I get that my 0 is actually overmodulated, I’m okay with the clipped audio. Remixing everything to be perfectly below 0 is not practical as I have to crank out about 80 hours of produced audio a week, so it’s quantity over quality. But the radio station software that this audio gets loaded in literally crashes if the audio hits 0, it MUST be attenuated to -1, I use -1.5 to be safe.

That’s INCREDIBLY helpful, thank you. I’ll give it a try tomorrow when I’m back in front of it.

    Thanks for your reply.

Blech. I was told by two different IT guys that the “image backups” we make daily to the NAS drive would be sufficient to recover anything in the event of a crash. Is there no way to extract the data from that old registry?

    Thanks again!

May 30, 2013 at 7:58 am in reply to: Vegas 11 on Surface Pro

Thanks for the reply. I ended up returning the Surface, for this very reason. My eyes just weren’t good enough to make out the tiny controls, and upping the resolution prevented me from seeing the video in HD. Until Sony corrects this dpi issue I will just have to stick to low-density displays.

By the way, a buddy of mine showed me Vegas running on his retina MacBook Pro, and it had the same issue. Sony really needs to get on this, because high density displays will be everywhere by the end of the year and this will be a much more commonplace problem.

Thank you for your reply, John, but is there a way to do it without precomposing? I don’t want to overcomplicate my project and the length of my clip is far greater than the length of my comp.

    Thanks!

April 22, 2013 at 7:23 pm in reply to: Slow import

Thanks for your reply. Yes, apps and OS are on SSD. I just did an experiment though and tried adding a JPG file from the SSD to an AE project, and had the same slowdown. As for the “hourglass,” it’s not an hourglass per se, but the “wait” mouse cursor that we old-timers call an hourglass. For the first 5 seconds, it’s a normal mouse pointer, then it turns into the swirling circle indicating “wait.”

That slight pause you’re experiencing, would you consider that normal? I don’t remember having to wait at all on previous setups and older AE versions.

December 22, 2012 at 9:19 am in reply to: Chroma Key suggestion

    Thanks for the thoughts guys.

The blue/green combo is kind of his thing, he’s been doing it for years, so dying it isn’t really an option.

I’ll do a few tests with some magenta fabric, and if I can’t get that to work I may abandon the chroma key idea and just stick to a traditional shoot.

    Thanks again
