I have no idea what this means:
“I copy the path into the preferences and imposed by the notes of rescue aicb – I copy to AE with modified paste”

But I think you are trying to use a map and path you made in Illustrator to animate the path in After Effects but the map appears as a raster image instead of a vector image.

Was the map created in Illustrator? If so, did you enable “continuous rasterization” for the map layer in After Effects? It’s the little icon that looks like a sun.

So you’re saying that everything looks fine until you render?

If you are missing codecs then your footage may appear as all white or all black when you try to play it back. I don’t know if this would only appear during render but I suppose that some codecs may have some sort of copy protection that would let you play them back but not render them.

What codec(s) are used in your source footage? If you have any DVC50Pro footage that was exported from Final Cut Pro or a Mac with the FCP codecs then it will not play back on a PC without a third-party codec such as the Raylight decoder.

Can you play all of the footage used in your comp in Quicktime player? You may try to update your Quicktime player to the latest version so you’ll have the latest codecs. If the footage was created with a newer version of Quicktime than what you have then it may cause this problem.

If you can provide more information then someone may be able to help you or point you in the right direction.

November 5, 2009 at 8:04 pm in reply to: HELP! Nested Comps and Alpha Problem

Do any of the layers in any of the comps have Layer Styles on them? If so, try deleting them – every single one of them- not just turning them off but completely deleting them. By that I mean select the heading “Layer Styles” and delete that so that all of the styles are deleted and Layer Styles is deactivated for that layer.

The layer styles are very buggy in CS3, especially when they are in a 3D comp. They can cause all sorts of weird problems that don’t seem to make any sense. Not sure if this is still the case in CS4 but it would be worth a try.

You can also just close all of the compositions before you start the render. Then you can do other things without having to keep the caps lock key on.

Shortcut: Hold the control (command on mac) key down when you select the template from the output module and it will become the default template.

Actually, that’s supposed to say “add *-1 to the end of the expression”. It’s correct in the project file, I just forgot it in the post. Sorry about that.

You would need to change the anchor points of the tray layers to the point at which they connect to the bar and then parent them to the bar. To keep them level when the bar rotates you will need to pick whip the rotation property of the trays to the rotation property of the bar and add -1 to the end of the expression.

    Check out this example project:

    Hope that helps.

You can use a difference matte effect. Put your static background layer under the layer with movement and switch the moving layer to “difference” blending mode. It will only show the pixels that are different in the two layers.

Just set the layers to draft settings.

If I understand correctly, you are covering up another layer with a masked white solid over a white BG, which looks fine over the white background but not so good with transparency.

What you should be doing is applying the mask to the logo layer itself. Try to copy and paste the mask onto your logo layer and set its mode to “subtract”. If the layers are different sizes or whatever and that doesn’t work you can also just use the masked white solid layer as a track matte by placing it over the logo layer and setting the logo layer’s track matte option to “alpha inverted”.
