I would try pre-comping each of the layers with their track mattes inside of your pre-comp and turn on the 3D switch for them but not the collapse transformations switch and see if that works.

Are ALL of the layers in the pre-comp, including the track matte layers, 3D? If not, that could be the issue.

The Continuous Rasterization switch (called the Collapse Transformations switch on a pre-comp) makes the layers inside the pre-comp behave as if they are in the main comp. So any layers that are not 3D in the pre-comp will not be 3D in the main comp, regardless of whether the pre-comp itself is 3D.

Wow, those tracks look very solid. So how does it do with more erratic camera movement like handheld shots, particularly those with movement in z-space instead of just stationary panning shots? And what is the “TE” doing to the “XT” in that hotel room? XD

Walter is right on, as per usual. I would add that photoshop and illustrator are absolutely invaluable to anyone working in serious video production of any kind. You may not think you need them, but once you have them you won’t want to be without them. The other apps like bridge, encore and also very useful, depending on your particular needs.

I didn’t realize that but it does seem a bit unfair. I wonder if it might just be an oversight of the sales dept. or something. Maybe Todd K. or someone else from Adobe might chime in on this.

    Hey Jon,
Maybe the UK pricing is different or something because in the US store the minimum qualifying purchase is $375 and the upgrade from CS5-CS5.5 is $399 so it qualifies for the discount. I ordered mine yesterday and it worked out to about $360 (+ tax) with the 10% off. It seems like a good deal to me.

  • I think you could probably use something like the “text to sand” technique but in reverse. Check out these tutorials:

It sounds like you just need to pre-comp the drop layer and select “move all attributes” and use the pre-comp for the particle texture instead of the layer with the effects applied.

Wow, CS6 looks really awesome! Can’t wait to take it for a spin.
