Hey guys, I tried it on my home system and it plays fine. Might have been a bandwidth issue when I tried before or maybe the network or something. Anyway, sorry for all of the trouble and thanks.

Honestly, I’m surprised you didn’t rip a hole in the space-time continuum by bringing swf files into AE! haha. That usually creates all sorts of problems, that’s if AE will even take them in the first place. First thing to do is convert them to an edit-friendly format (not h.264, swf, etc.). But to your question, “what am I doing wrong”, aside from the swf files, it’s hard to say since you haven’t really told us much about your render settings or anything. Are they set to full resolution in the render queue? The formats AVI, quicktime and blu-ray don’t really tell us much since there are all sorts of options within each

No, unfortunately AE and AI don’t exchange info that way and I don’t know of any workarounds or anything. You can import it as a composition with separate layers but that’s about it as far as I know.

Sure, I wasn’t saying “always reshoot”, just that in a lot of cases it would cost less than fixing in post. But of course, as you pointed out, it depends on the particular situation. This shot doesn’t look very elaborate and rotoscoping the curly-haired girl from the background would be difficult and might not give you very good results. Also, if you roto and blur the background wouldn’t you be blurring out the sax player’s silhouette as well?

Clever title but I gave up trying to watch this because it won’t load and play, it just keeps hanging up. Maybe it’s just me but I don’t normally have any problems playing videos so..?

If it were me, I would have them re-shoot it. If he didn’t want a perforated background then why did he use one?? Director’s love to screw things up and then just say “ah, well, we’ll just fix it in post”, but it’s generally more expensive and time-consuming to fix things in post than to re-shoot. Just my opinion.

Very impressive! I can’t wait to try it out. I have PFHoe now and it does a pretty good job but it can take a while to get a good track on some shots. Thanks a lot for posting this!
