Yes, there’s a script called rd: Script Launcher that creates a dockable panel with a list of all scripts in whatever folder you point it to, plus it has a refresh button so you can add a new script without restarting AE. The only thing I wish it had but doesn’t is a search field, but otherwise it’s great and it’s free.

You are welcome! Glad to help. Another thing I just thought of is that if you end up having to track the camera movement you will probably need to use a track matte to reveal the colors. Is your shot locked down or is it moving?

If your still image is not the same size as the comp it probably won’t work as expected, so try pre-composing the image and selecting the “move all attributes” option so the image will be contained in a pre-comp that’s the same size as your main comp.

Another thing that might work is to import the Illustrator file as a layered comp and then convert the layers to shapes. Gradient layers will still not maintain the gradient when converted but you could use the original illustrator in front of the shape layer for the color. or if the gradient in the AI file has a stroke you can put the gradient fill on it’s own layer in AI and just duplicate it and offset the layers in Z so it makes a front and back face with the stroke acting as the sides. Hard to explain but here’s an example project.

Hmm, I’m not sure about that. It’s been a while since I’ve used Mocha but if I remember correctly I believe the layer you are pasting the data onto needs to be at the default settings for position and scale. You can right-click the property names and click “reset” from the menu.

It appears that the Wasa video was probably drawn by hand, frame by frame, like traditional cel animation. If you are just trying to reveal a colored version of the scene then you could probably just use animated masks or “rotoscoping”. Google “after effects rotoscoping tutorial” and “after effects masks tutorial” to learn how.
Also, if your camera is moving you will need to do some camera tracking as well so that your masks stay locked to the camera movement.

Just replace the first “temp” in second line with “value[0]”, like this:
[value[0], temp]
The “value[0]” refers to the first parameter in the array. You would think it would be value[1] but the array parameters are counted starting with 0.

I didn’t know about the new “Edit This, Look At That” features. That does seem a little easier than in past versions of AE.
