September 20, 2008 at 5:24 am in reply to: *NEW* AJA Mac Plug-ins for Adobe available nowI am having problems with this update. I have the LHe. FCP works but loses audio sync randomly. iTunes open AE stutters with.

It seems this is only happening in AE. I have tried Desktop Only and output using the LHe. I get stutter thru iTunes. FCP works just fine using LHe and iTunes at the same time.
Something even stranger-I have restarted the computer probably 5-6 times in the last week to get my timeline back in A/V sync. I never had to do this before installing the latest AE LHe driver. Maybe I will just roll back the software. I have just had weird things happening since the new driver update.

There does not seem to be a way to post examples…Anyway, the 8 bit render is nice and shows the typical “Shine” whites blown out with basically the orange fire that surrounds the alpha channel of a graphic. On the High Precision YUV, the part that is supposed to be blown out is a transparent yellow color- it should be white like the 8 bit version. If I crank up the boost light=the same yellow interior, although on the screen and monitor pre-view the image is blown out and white. Does any of this make sense?
The sequence is DVCPro 720 p24.

Binary! Boogiesan, you must be practicing being a Direct In Charge Kontroller in your spare time. As far as binary solutions go, I actually tried quite a few things, such as: change firewire cable/ trashing prefs/ change the capture scratch/ wiped out the raid, separated the drives/ reformatted drives/ tried different firewire ports/ checked system settings/ checked sequence presets/ eating green tea leaves and rubbing my tummy while humming Humuhumunukuapua’a. Nothing worked. Nothing is working for lots of others as well, if only you had looked, but you were busy practicing.
And still the question remains: Why does FCP 6 report dropped frames on capture? I have “abort on dropped frames” turned off in the preferences. Why does FCP continue to abort on dropped frames with that preference checked off!
And lastly, I imported the quicktime into FCP and continue to use the program as my editor.

Duh!
I never use OpenGL, it doesn’t really work all that great in AE. But what do I see? OpenGL was activated for my previews. Turned OpenGL off and Adaptive on = Violla! Speedier previews! Thanks Cow people!

I “found” my missing boris by searching for “boris” in the finder. It was somehow moved into an improper plug-ins folder. I just dragged the plugs back into the system plug-ins folder and it is now back to normal. Strange days indeed.

Has anyone come up with a solution?
I am having the same issues. My FCP project is only 3.5 minutes long. I have to render it out in 3 parts. Not good.Dual Core 2 Duo 3.0Ghz, 6GB ram, 2x500GB Raid, Tiger 10.4.11, FCP 5.1.4

February 6, 2008 at 5:56 am in reply to: crashing due to real memory allocation overloadI’m on Quicktime 7.3.1.
Good, bad, indifferent?
I have just had luck with rendering with third party ram. I still see 16,777,216.00 TB of ram usage. Very strange. I am having some troubles with DVD Studio Pro now. It may be time for a system rebuild. I also have Windows XP installed via bootcamp. I will probably say good bye to that as only Leopard has Bootcamp support.
