March 1, 2011 at 11:33 pm in reply to: Missing vector elements (ai. cs3 import) in AE CS3 playback preview! 🙁Try clicking the “continous rasterize” check box at the root of your Illustrator file(if it’s nested that means the lowest level). Works for me in CS5 now.

Must use TIFF or JPEG in order for the built in gradient wipe to work consistently for ins and outs.
Mac no longer supports PNG files as of a few generations of OSX ago.

Anyone find a gradient wipe plug-in that works on lower thirds?
Must work on stand alone graphics, lower 3rd generator or graphics with an alpha channel.
MUST work on the “in” and “out”.MacPro 2.26 octo, NVidia GT120, 16GB ram, 4TB SATA Raid that now works in SL, SLeopard 10.6.6, FCPStudio 3, QT 7, Kone LHe

Fixed!
I removed the plist for Guitar Rig 4 and did a restart. When asked to re-install Guitar Rig 3 libraries I happily declined. All is good in the world again.
A little mud slinging, but effective trouble-shooting regardless.
Thanks Bob for lighting the fire, and clean your basement!

Crazy? Metric Halo?
Have you used one yet? I have built Neve, API and Hardy clone preamps and the Metric Halo ULN8 gets close to them. All in a single rack unit. I also use it as an effects processor for compression on the way in and buss compression on the way out or through. Did you know it has onboard DSP that rivals the big boys? Skys the limit of what can be done with this box…anyway you probably have more money tied up in cr*ppy cable that sits in your basement unused…waiting for the dumpster.I hooked up the LHe like you asked as an extra tone-suck and it works fine. Unity gain is off 1/32 of a turn on channel one. Sound is clean with Bars and Tone, sound is clean with guitar(and nice distortion when input cranked, I can see myself using this!).
Turn on Guitar Rig 4 and the whine is back. It has to be Guitar Rig. The cpu indicator goes wild, 10%-90%-4%-100% Redline. Cpu spikes when nothing is played through basic clean Fender style amp sim.

Oh, speakers are JBL LSR4328 and have AES inputs.

Awesome!!! I finally have a post deserving of the wrath of “Z”!
OK. To be more clear. I typically use(if going direct) the DI instrument level IN on my Metric Halo ULN8. That is at my bands music studio and unfortunately NOT mobile, it’s locked up tighter than Fort Knox’s, can’t cover our nations deficit, gold supply.
Now at the edit studio I have a mackie mixer feeding the analog in of the Kona LHe. I use a Hi-Z/Lo-Z box between the guitar and mixer. The mic input is on the back of the macpro. I use the Kona AES-out to feed my monitors. The mixer does not matter in this equation. It can be turned off and nothing plugged in to the LHe pig-tail at all. I get noise whenever I select the LHe as input device.
When trying to use the analog in on the LHe to the input of Guitar Rig there is a very loud whining sound through the speakers. This happens when the mixer is off or on. Levels look good.
If I switch to the “beginners” method of guitar-cable-adapter-mic in on Macpro. I do not get the noise though the levels are somewhat lower. When I switch back to Kona as input device the whining noise comes back.

Solved
ALL the fonts in the font folder for the system are loaded. You have to browse around through ALL the headings and sift to the character that you want(Helvetica etc…). Then keep the Titler open in FCP and click “insert”, while both windows are open, the Character Viewer will be “on top”.
If you want a special font it must be loaded into fontbook first. Good luck with fontbook.

Thanks, I have the character viewer already. I can not seem to be able to load any fonts? Just Lucida Grand. I know Times New Roman has a note but I can’t find a way to load it into Character Viewer.

It is not only significant, it is also insignificant! I have used Multiprocessing for a few years now and rarely have problems with it. This is the first time that I have gone through my troubleshooting scramble that when turning off MP was the fix. I have used MP in the past very successfully. January 18, 2011 at 8:40 pm in reply to: Missing vector elements (ai. cs3 import) in AE CS3 playback preview! 🙁I have had these problems for a LOOONG time and with different versions of AE. CS4 had some major problems with Illustrator files. Mostly the disappearing layers or render glitches. I use Boris Continuum and have found that it is touch and go using Boris. Machine restarts sometimes work, sometimes don’t. Then, whammo, everything works again. It could be a day later, a minute, a week??? It leaves the user clueless and un-trusting of Adobe etc…
I figured out my current problem just a few minutes ago. I had to turn off Multiprocessing on my Octo core with 8GB of ram. The render worked and I am not touching the Multiproc switch again. I guess I’ll be a lot slower from now on. Two steps forward, twenty steps back. In hind-site, I would have been fine just keeping my 1st gen MacPro.
