It would be great if it would support filetransfer through the ethernetport. Just like the new Aja Ki Pro update supports.
And some cross support with the ATEM-switchers, so you can control the deck through the switcher (When you switch to the hyperdeck, it starts to play).

So many cool and easy futures that would make all the BMD-products so much greater!

And I appreciate the effort that you guys are showing by trying to shake up the professional video-market! It would be great if you could add another difference compared with the ‘old’ companies: be transparant about everything. Just tell the world that you can’t ship the ME 2 switcher cause you have to redesign the hardware. Just tell the world that you hope to ship the first 1000 units of the Smartview HD in the coming six weeks. Just tell the world that you’ve got a deal with AVID to only support DNxHD in the Hyperdecks.

In the other ways your work is great (nice products, software-updates every four weeks, publicly, set and low prices, and all the nice things that are to come)!

It isn’t really a problem that they don’t deliver, it’s more that they won’t communicate about it.
As soon as they remove the ‘Shipping in february” sign on the website, they should be able to ship it to everybody that wants the product.
If they were more transparant about their delivery-schedule, we would know what to expect, and use that to plan our projects.
Remember that -for example- eventually the ATEM 2 M/E Switcher will be 6 months late! Just don’t promise things that you can’t live up to, right?

At this moment is can process your signal. But the multiviewer shows it as 4:3. Which makes the switcher quite unusable in SD-productions.
I’ve mailed with Blackmagic several times since early august, but they won’t give a timeframe for when they will fix this issue with an update.

Until then we’ll have to rent a another switcher for each SD-production, which is **#* annoying.

July 6, 2011 at 10:14 am in reply to: ATEM 1 M/E Switcher: death after power outage

Sorry, I explained the situation not detailed enough:
Don’t worry about the UPS, it was already in order.
The Switcher was still a brick, when the power turned back on!

So it just stopped working after the power-outage.
Which is strange, cause the only way of shutting the switcher down is by pulling the plug. There’s no on/off-button.

  • The problem with the DSLR’s is that they -most times- can’t output a clean video-signal in 720P or 1080i. In general Menu-info is overlay, or the video is strangely cutted in letterbox etc.

Maybe there’s a Magic Lantern-hack for the Eos 5D’s which can activate a clean output at a resolution that the ATEM Television Studio can handle?

June 1, 2011 at 3:58 pm in reply to: you better release those ATEM switchers soon

Our supplier told me that the delivery of our unit is expected to be in two/three weeks.
Which is clearly the end of june, instead of the ‘promised’ date of may.

Too bad, cause I really could use the unit at some productions.
