A client has requested it for a large display at a trade show of some sort. It needs to be 60fps because it’s an animation that has vertical lines moving horizontally. At 30fps (regardless of codec) the lines stutter and don’t look good. I’ve inquired about them being able to use another codec, but in case they cannot, I’d love to find a way to do 60fps in mpeg2.

August 18, 2009 at 9:50 pm in reply to: AE Crashes when importing quicktime movie. Emergency help needed. There are libraries in both the root directory of the system disk, and then in each ‘users’ folder. Check both for 3rd party plug-ins.
Good Luck

April 29, 2009 at 5:18 pm in reply to: AE Crashes when importing quicktime movie. Emergency help needed.unfortunately I can’t help out with specifics. If I remember correctly, I just removed all non essential codecs, and slowly added them back into the lineup, as I needed them. In general, I had probably hundreds of random codecs that I didn’t really need.
good luck, I know it’s frustrating.

November 4, 2007 at 5:30 pm in reply to: OSX Leopard & Adobe CS3 — Please read before installing LeopardI think I’m having SERIOUS issues with AE CS3 and Leopard.
I unwisely installed leopard without checking compatibility.
I have several issues that have cropped up since the upgrade. It seems whenever I try to do anything in 3D space, the location of the layer is nebulous. When I click to move the layer it’s in one place, but then when I let go, it jumps to another position. While trying to use trapcodes 3d stroke, it’s not even consistent, and the stroke jumps all around with no consistent relationship to the path. This may not be leopards fault, but I’ve never had these issues before.
HELP!

Thanks for the suggestions. Both will work fine. I find it odd that you need to use workarounds.

March 28, 2007 at 3:59 pm in reply to: AE Crashes when importing quicktime movie. Emergency help needed.SOLVED!
I HAD removed all the third party plugins from the library to no avail, but I didn’t think to check the “other” library under the users directory.
Thanks for tipping me off Kevin. You saved me from several weeks of pulling my hair out.
Thanks to everyone else who offered help as well. This place is a wonderful resource.

March 28, 2007 at 5:49 am in reply to: AE Crashes when importing quicktime movie. Emergency help needed.I’ve tried everything I can think of, and it still isn’t working. I’ve been working on an old laptop to get the job done, but this is going to be a real problem the next couple weeks.
I can’t be the only one with this issue.

March 28, 2007 at 1:12 am in reply to: AE Crashes when importing quicktime movie. Emergency help needed. It crashes both on footage exported from final cut, and footage rendered to the animation codec from after effects.
I do have 3rd party codecs, I’m removing them now.

Ok,
EDL seems to work (the first time I exported it, the b-roll conflict was set wrong).
The reason the reel info vanished seems to be the that the reel names the previous editor gave everything were too long, and the EDL was truncating the info that I needed. Meaning i have to go in and change all the reel IDs by hand, but it’s still a better option than re-digitizing 12 hours of tape.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help.
