This seems like long way home?
Have you tried exporting from RCXPro?
Its been awhile for me but thats how we got AMA to work with R3D and Avid last year.

Thanks Jeremy yes 10.7.5 for FCPX.
Warning: with the Retina and other cards such as ATTO and ROCKET dont seem to play well with 10.8.2.
Maybe the new RED installers fixed all that.

October 25, 2012 at 3:56 pm in reply to: MC 6.5 Quicktime Reference issue

I’ve been dealing with Avid support on this for weeks now.
We tried both Symphony and MC at 6.0x and latest 6.5.
We are getting the same black screen result in QTX.
However, I can see the results in QuickTime Pro 7, but only with exports of 20 minutes to 25 minutes.
Anything above that say 2 hours will show the first few frames in QT7 then green after.
You can hear the audio but no video.
We tried this across 4 computers and still no go.
We then tried to replicate this issue with all Adobe products.
None of them support QT REf?
On a side note, the issue also occurs with Share to Sorenson from all Avid software.
    Rather annoying bug 😛

  • can we get the files of the dude in the Las Vegas hotel room during NAB 😉

Ahem there is quite a difference from updating a $300 piece of software on a Mac than a simple update from MS for Windows.
Heck Iven lost a drive due to some strange link I clicked on…honest it was by accident 🙂
The Mac will still run, Windows will just drop dead 😛
Sorry that’s just pent up anger with a few Dells at work.

When I found out about this update, I warned folks at REDUSER to be careful if they are using any ATTO cards, Sonnet Echo Express Pro and RED ROCKET.
Apple OS 10.8.2 is basically bunk with the above hardware.
You will also need an update from RED to get FCPX to recognize the R3Ds.

CinemaDNG and compositing in AE is no different from working with higher end frames such as 16bit TIFF or EXR (Im guessing of course).
Not uncommon to importing thousands of frames from a 3D (Maya, Max, etc)render into AE.
You will just have to prep your files for real time use in Premiere.
My last experience with R3D and Premiere wasnt fun even with a few ROCKETS. Im sure thats all fixed and smooth now with CS6.
