In regards to Optimize as ProRes4444, I cant seem to ever find that option in FCPX.
I only tried once for the heck of it during initial Apple release.
Is it automatic? I tried to force it in the Project settings but no such luck there.

Try exporting a clean and simple FCPX XML then open REDCINE.
From there use the Import and make sure to direct the Original R3D Directories and make sure to add all directories thats local.
Then it will ask for the XML.
From there export as ProRes4444 and check-on Generate FCP XML/-X XML (whatever you works).

I for one love the open concept and you see this in VFX (yea I know thats a sweat shop).
Ive had the same experience where we went from cubicles to an open office env.
Love it and if you really need isolation, a single studio room maybe two is all you need.

Jeff that struggle will occur even on the fastest CPU due to H264 decoding on the fly.
When I acquire GH4 and all AVCHD/h264 footies, I convert to ProRes.

Im not sure but without knowing how much R3D footage you have AMA might bog you down.
Even if you were using 8.3.1 I would still suggest to Transcode.
The fastest is to Transcode and AAF from REDCINE so that you can go up and down the chain to 4K.
Or just transcode in Avid to DNxHD.

That wasnt the case during the my CC 3 debacle 😛

Im not sure who/where the crash reports were sent too but after a few hundred crashes in AE I got a little constructive with my comments.

I wasnt banned or reported from Adobe sites so I take it they either dont listen or Im just 1 in million then 😛

Once it came out the school I was instructing at asked me to dump legacy and create a course outline for FCPX.
Since it was in its infancy, teaching the basics was never an issue.
And honestly most dedicated users will always be defiant with their own workflow.
Now this is just theory but I always thought the angst was directed to Apple and its then current state with the iToys at the time.
Back when FCP first came out, Apple could not do anything wrong.
Hey I have a few beefs with FCPX but honestly at $300 for five seats….maybe you get what you paid for 🙂

Crap I didnt see this post.

Ive been using it well actually I told a director/editor to download and use it on his RED project and send the TC to VFX.
None of the numbers jived and also had to issues with Absolute blah blah.
Im inexperienced when it comes to TC and only know from what REDCineX Pro spits at me.

Double check if you really do have Premiere CC 2014.
A few months ago I had to create a new workstation and for some weird reason I had Premiere CC stuck on it even though the other apps went all in as 2014 during the upgrade.
I dont remember what I did but it took me forever to find a way to update to 2014 even with the “CLOUD” app staring laughing at me 😛
I bring this up cause during the initial CC installs I noticed Premiere would just die on me at startup.
I figure maybe I needed 2014 (I just ran out of patience dealing with it I guess) so went ahead to upgrade without thinking.
Those are a few days of my life Ill never get back 😛
