  • unbelievable. Now suddenly, uniform works but not adaptive.

    I literally changed nothing.

I wonder if a new version of C4D fixes this.

  • Linear — > Adaptive also works, but any setting with Uniform doesn’t work, even though it worked with your scene file.

  • NEW EDIT:
Ok, you won’t believe this, but by changing the point distribution on my spline in my scene–which was already set to uniform after I made the spline editable–to ADAPTIVE, the entire simulation now works perfectly.

I think maybe the default distribution just needs to be changed for some reason to get it all to work.

    BIZZARRE.

Everything I had read said it needed to be Bezier and Uniform.

I guess Adaptive is what works.

I tried changing from adaptive back to uniform and uniform will not allow the simulation to work. It just stretches to infinite.

  • I moved the connector tag from the spline to the cube and now it moves around and is connected. However, the rope now doesn’t bend as all. It’s just a completely stiff rope that moves around ‘correctly’ but doesn’t bend or curve at all like a rope would. The rope just changes length completely dependently on how far the cube is from the other end.

    EDIT:
I changed your spline to uniform distribution of points, and it bends now.

I also had to increase the number of points.

I moved the connector tag back to the spline and it works there now as well.

I think the issue was maybe the point distribution?

When I do the exact same thing in my scene file with the project I was working on it doesn’t work for some reason.

  • I will try again, but I have already tried every tutorial I could find and they all don’t work for me.

I tried the balloon on the string, the hanging animal skull, and nothing works using any possible simulation combination with the rope.

  • I opened your file and it doesn’t work. The object just falls down not attached to the rope at all.

What version of C4D do you have?

    EDIT:
Oh, I can see your version in the video.

I opened your file in C4D 2024.5.0 and it works perfectly as in your video.

That confirms it. Maxon broke the simulation system in 2025.

    Figures.

    Thanks for your help.

  • I am using c4d 2025.0.2. I don’t know if they broke this whole system recently.

Can you confirm if that tutorial works, and if so, share a file?

  • I tried that tutorial exactly and it doesn’t work.

Are you able to replicate it?

  • What i am looking for is a way to have the entire rope able to be pulled along by one end (the other end is anchored in some way) so it is art driven but also retains the rope dynamics simulation. A deformer would be very limiting.

There must be a way to get it to retain its length?

I could rig the rope with bones and use IK to move it along like that, but then I lose the physics of the rope being affected by other forces like gravity.

  • Thanks for the tip.

That video is interesting. I wasn’t trying to use geometry glue, though, but just the connector object to break voronoi fracture using dynamics.

I am actually able to use the legacy connector built into the voronoi fracture. It does allow for weight maps using fields.

It isn’t quite what I wanted to use.

The new connector object is completely useless for working with voronoi fracture to define where the breaking force is applied using any selection or weight.

Maxon must have just not cared to integrate mograph properly.

The new connector allows for more bending with the destruction. The legacy connector is more rigid, but I will have to make it work well enough.
