MPEG 1 audio is not mandatory on players so I didn’t include it…but thanks anyway.

Either DVDSP or DVDLab if you’re on a budget. Scenarist if you plan on doing alot of work. I think its down to $5K now. Off the top of my head, Encore has tons of bugs and it provides no scripting capabilities.

I wouldn’t consider Encore a professional DVD tool but I’m glad it worked.

No..DVD only supports AC3, PCM and DTS.

DVD is a video format – it has to have video. You’re looking at about 15-20 discs for 40 hours. But why would anyone want to listen to an audio book on a TV? Make a regular CD and it will play on a CD player and a DVD player 🙂

Right now only Do Studio, Scenarist or Blu Print. Do Studio is somewhat affordable at 5K. The others cost 50K+ to get set up properly. Unless you plan to do lots of this work, the time and money is not worth the price. Best to hire this kind of service out to a third party.

Maybe someone else can chime in but I believe Encore only allows one page for their pop-up menus. With this, you wont achieve the same functionality as the discs you see in stores.
This kind of BD production is still in the hands of seasoned facilities with the right equipment.

Encore isn’t a professional authoring tool by any means. It has several issues and this is just one. Basically Adobe is creating back end code on top of their DVD authoring suite that was already in place. Not the right way of going about things and this is the result.

Personally I would get this work done by someone who knows the ins and outs of the BD spec. Pro/Consumer tools like Encore and Compressor, ect aren’t the best options if you are talking about quality.
You wouldn’t give a RED to a beginner would you? Why do the same with the product your audience will actually see? 🙂
