I would check out Netblender’s tool. In fact that would be the only option unless you want to spend $100K. Remember, DVD is not Blu Ray so your mastery of DVDSP will do little good. 🙂 You really want to do your homework by reading up on the technology first.

Yeah…its a 23.98 file but with the 3:2 flags set making it 29.97 – the only legal frame rate for DVD MPEG 2. Its a virtual stream like you said. I think its important to know that DVD doesn’t technically support true 24frames rates, Only 29.97

Here’s a thread which explains the details of the technology. MPEG 2 does not support 23.98 framrates. The codec was around much sooner than progressive video. DVD only supports 29.97 and 25. 23.98 with the flags sets makes it a 29.97 stream.

Not sure what you mean but Top Shelf Quality, but that only come from expensive encoders, people who know how to use them and well produced source footage. Well….most of the time anyway 🙂 Not something you’ll get using Adobe’s media encoder. Many of the title you’ve seen originated from 4k or 2k files, down converted correctly, then encoded with the equipment mentioned by Micheal.

Pretty sure you made an HD DVD by mistake. Does a HVDVD_TS show up in your build location? If so, go back and change your preferences to SD and re-author.

I dont believe you mentioned the type of audio used. Uncompressed takes up 1.5 mb/s of bandwidth. Start a new project with AC3 audio.

I see your point but this isn’t about ripping, its about extracting muxed material. Ripping is removing encryption – they are 2 different things needing separate tools.
MPEG Stream Clip is a great extraction tool talked about all the time in this forum.

Since Encore doesn’t support scripting, there’s no way to do this. DVDSP or DVDLab are good options here.

This is a perfectly suitable topic for this forum. We can’t help what clients deliver. If they are dumb enough to master their material to BD or DVD and paying you to extract that material then we have an obligation.
