Some players have upscaling capabilities. This has nothing to do with Blu Ray. Several SD DVD players have this now.

I guess re-compressing would be a better term. I believe it would be possible to get a complaint stream. I suggest the Doom9 forums. Plenty of guys there who would be better qualified in that kind of stuff. These guys are hobbyist and it amazing me what some can do.

Yep! Now in HD DVDs defense, I had close to 80K in work lined up. Then came the Warner Bros announcement. All the independent work went down the drain once I offered them the cost to do the same title in Blu Ray. Thanks BDA!

In Apple’s defense, I wouldn’t blame them at all. Their hands are tied from high licensing costs from the BDA. DVDit Pro is Sonic which already licensed advanced BD solutions. Don’t know where Adobe lies in all this – wish I did. But, for Apple to release a BD tool or playback, you, the customer, will have to pay up the nose 🙂

Not all MPEG streams are alike. The streams recorded by your camera are not BD compliant so there will need to be some transcoding done.

Just curious…why outsource the work when you can do it yourself? Buy Encore or a cheap PC and DVDit Pro (or run it on Bootcamp). For the money they will be charging you, that seems the way to go.
Steve Jobs recently announced there won’t be any Blu Ray for Apple anytime soon…so don’t hold your breath too long 🙂

Nothing like that I’ve ever heard of.
Most authoring tools are pretty easy to use. I find it hard to imagine a seasoned editor or even an intern who has spent 4 years studying would have a problems learning and using any of them.

Here’s a tutorial to look at. Its really a work around more than anything else. Since every button state is a different menu, navigation is slow and will not work correctly on computers.
