Wow, that pathway issue is going to kill it for me. Thanks for the tip about saving with the media along with the project. I would have been in a bad place.
I guess that teaches me to have a dedicated place for my media for the Vegas projects I work on. I started out using Vegas as a small hobby so didn’t do much work flow processes around it. Looks like now I might need to think how best to set things up so next time I’m not scrambling with pathway issues.
Thanks again for the help!

I appreciate the response.
I don’t have the cash to get a new drive though. How about I dBan it? Or better, run truecrypt to scramble the drive, then dban. Should have it be clean then to reformat.
The only thing is that I have an Upgrade edition not the full version. So not sure I could do the above since I’m assuming I need to install while I have the XP up and running.
And just to confirm, so do I need to de-install Sony Vegas etc, or can I just have the clean Windows 7 and then re-install?
Thanks,

Thanks everyone for your responses. It’s given me much to chew on. I think right now I’ll lay low but still continue building up experience. It only helps to know more anyway at even if I only apply it to my own stuff.

Wow Nigel, thank you so much for your thorough write up. I was thinking of tapping into school stuff with my kids as well, but then it’s back to me having to probably shoot the stuff. All I really want to do (am I lazy?) is edit.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Might just have to come to the realization that what I want is just a really expensive hobby. Like you, just trying to make some pocket money from it.
Thanks again,

Thanks Vincent!
Yeah, there’s a part in me that’s thinking not much will come from this, but want to do something to keep my creative chops up. I definitely identify with you. I don’t want a hack job…everytime I edit I’m always also looking for some unique angle.
Appreciate your feedback!

Thanks Dan for the feedback.
When you get a job, does the client email you all the content or is there a website they go to to upload?
Thanks,

Hey Theo,
This is why I ask the forum, because I get great question and thougts back!
Yeah, red flag for me if I can’t calculate my hours I’d need to work to pull that in. So looks like I’d have to be much lower in my monthly expected amount/or raise my pay scale (unlikely at first though).
Thanks for the story of the wedding videos. That’s what I’m wondering….if push comes to shove to people ACTUALLY have contacts who would do it for free, but they just don’t. Or do they want their photos etc made into something nice and can’t find an easy solution (that’s where I walk in).
I also wonder what something like iMovie and Animoto are going to look like in 2 more years time. It’s almost plug and play, although I haven’t tested extensively.
Thanks again for your comments/questions!

Thanks Steven!
That’s very good news. Excited to get the new version installed.
Thanks again,

Hi Steve,
Just jumping in to confirm what you stated.
I have Sony Platinum 9 and just got Sony Platinum 10 HD. So based on your comment then, I don’t need to uninstall 9, it will just automatically get overwritten during the 10 install process?
I assume as well then my files of current projects won’t get overwritten?
Let me know if I’ve understood correctly.
Thank you for your time
Eric
