thanks Oscar. That Avid RAID looks to be fantastic…I’m just getting started so a simpler one ought to be enough. I was considering the entry level Lacie 5big but it seems that the seagata drives are not reliable…is that what your experienced? When you say fail? You needed to replace them often? All drives fail at some point but I would hate it if they would start failing after a few months.
    oh well. good to know.
    thanks

are the lacie 5big thunderbolt 2 still too risky to buy? I wish reports were more encouraging after a few months of launching.
A 10TB TB2 may be what I can afford…the rest are a bit much…I guess I was lucky with my Lacie D2 v3 drives as even with 5 of them I didn’t have any failures. Just tell me the truth!! thanks!
Prices are higher here in Canada.

  • Thanks for the help…I checked the Canon ZR60’s menus and AVtoDV was off, I turned connected FW400 before starting FCP and I still get the same problems. FCP just doesn’t recognize it…are there “drives” i can get somewhere? I used to edit with Premiere Pro 1.5 and I never had an issue with the Canon ZR-60 but I remember that there was a drop down list to choose models from…nothing like that on FCP-only FW basic and that doesn’t work…
    hmm…
I ended up getting the DVI to video adaptor so that I can see on my TV what I’m editing but it’s not nearly as good as the signal I used to get out of my Canon ZR-60 acting as a transcoder…
if worst come to worst, I’ll have to digitize to the internal Mac HD and then copy to the Firewire…
any more ideas? Thanks a lot..
