Well, to each his own, I suppose. I’m cuuently running a 4 TB EnhanceTech RS8 SS SAS RAID system with an LSI SAS 1068E card that costs under $5,000. and does 600MB/s (RAID 5)with 8 SATA drives. Works great.

Matrox is less stringent with certifying storage options. They make recommendations, but storage specs aren’t included in the system checker that runs during system registration.

    Harm,

The RTX2 DOES support XDCAM HD and DVCPRO HD natively. 64-bit support will arrive with CS4. You could get the other features you want by building a custom system that contains Matrox certified components. It may not be bleeding edge, but it will work.

It’s my understanding that the RTX2 and Axio WILL be making the jump to 64-bit CS4. This is the beauty of Matrox’s flexible FPGA-based architecture.

Harm, wasn’t your last Matrox purchase a RT-2000?

You should give them another shot. The RTX2 LE is rock stable when used in Matrox certified configurations, and offers significant enhancements to CS3 for less than a thousand bucks: real time effects, accelerated rendering/export, and analog I/O for example.

The Matrox cards (RTX2 & Axio series) support the capture screen in Premiere with HDV, and give you audio input metering as well.

  • Can you capture to an internal hard drive? It sounds like you are using FireWire for both the camera hookup and the external disk, which could cause problems.

  • Soundbooth is better integrated with Premiere CS3 (right click on clip in Premiere to open in Soundbooth; save in Soundbooth to send changes back to Premiere); but Adobe Audition is much more comprehensive – a great DAW program now with fairly decent MIDI support.

    Hi, Simon,

No problems here with Axio; PPro v.3.2; and Axio Utils 3.5. Matrox is suggesting waiting before updating to XP SP3 until they have a chance to check it out. Apparently one issue is that you may have problems reinstalling Axio Utils with SP3.

Check the Matrox forum for the latest details.

How about printing to tape and recapturing in Premiere?
